Final Conference
The St@ndByMe Final Conference, “Older Adults in the Digital Era: Rights, Services and the Power of Inclusion,” took place on 5–6 November 2025 in the Czech Republic as part of a larger multi-track event organised by APSS. Across several thematic blocks, participants were free to move between parallel sessions, helping to connect project insights with wider discussions on social services and digital transformation. In total, around 200 participants attended the event.
The St@ndByMe project block focused on digitalisation and digital inclusion in older age, presenting the project’s research results on the digital rights of older adults, alongside an EU best practice guide and practical learning approaches developed through the project. The programme also showcased applied solutions and national perspectives, including an AI-supported paperless workflow for social-service interviews and reflections on the current state of digitalisation in Czech social services, complemented by interactive workshops for older adults.
Intermediate Conference
LLL Conference 2024 – Brussels, 20/11/2024
The St@ndbyMe project addresses the challenges of digital transformation and social inclusion, particularly for older adults. While digitalisation is promoted as a solution for efficiency and accessibility, it risks deepening social inequalities, especially for digitally disadvantaged groups such as older individuals, migrants, low-income populations, and people with disabilities.
The shift to digital-first services—from banking to public services—assumes universal digital proficiency, overlooking those who struggle with technology. The lack of legal protection for digital rights (e.g., access to the internet and digital literacy education) exacerbates exclusion. Additionally, new challenges such as fake news, digital fraud, and data privacy demand high digital proficiency, further marginalising vulnerable groups.
The project emphasises a rights-based approach, advocating for professionals in care and adult education to recognise digital exclusion as a social issue, not an individual’s failure. Educators and caregivers play a crucial role in supporting older adults in navigating the digital world. By raising awareness and promoting digital literacy, the initiative aims to foster inclusive digital environments and challenge the growing digital divide.
International Academy
At the StandByMe International Academy, we gathered with partners, educators, and activists from across Europe.
Over two days, we explored:
